It’s been a long time since I have posted on here and I have missed it. I wish I could say I have been silent because I have been seeking the Lord this whole time but the truth is I have been extremely busy the last three years. While I have been in the Word and in prayer I have rarely been silent for very long. There’s been a longing in my heart the last few months to be quiet more often and return to the simple things; and a desire has been growing to get back to blogging. Social media is very fast-paced. You see a glimpse of something and then it’s gone. You scroll past post after post looking for one more thing. I admit that I can get sucked in to scrolling for longer than I care to admit and when I am done I rarely remember much of what I saw. I don’t want to spend my time that way. I want to reach the end of the day and know that I was faithful in what the Lord put in front of me. I want to be present for my family and for the Lord. I don’t want my thoughts going in a dozen directions. So, I am intentionally choosing to be quiet in some ways.
“In returning and rest you will be saved; in quietness and in confidence will be your strength.” Isaiah 30:15
The Lord gave me this verse the other day and it really spoke to me. It put into words what I have been feeling. I am already saved, that is not a question. For me, the emphasis is rest and quietness and confidence. That is where my strength comes from. Resting in Him, being quiet so I can hear Him speak and having confidence in who I am in Him and what His plan is for me. That is my strength. And I need to RETURN to that.

I’ve been contemplating what things are really important to me and realizing they need to be a priority. I’ve spent some significant time in my gardens (I have scratches from the wild roses to prove it), I’ve been planning meals so when we get home from work we can sit and be nourished and share about our day, I’ve set up a sewing spot downstairs so I can work while I also watch baseball and I am working on updating my website (I would much rather work with needle and thread than try to figure out computer stuff…).

The Word and my prayer life have consistently been a part of my life for a long time and I try to take inventory regularly to make sure those things are not getting pushed aside. But my gardens, meals, my new designs and certainly my website have each taken a distant backseat. This summer I have been taming the jungles that used to be my beautiful gardens, I have broken out some old recipes and enjoyed preparing them, and Miss Opal Elizabeth and I have spent some delightful hours sewing new pieces while she listens to me mutter about another man left on second AGAIN.

My desire is to be on here regularly to share what I am working on and what the Lord is speaking to my heart. And hopefully I will start to figure out some of the computer obstacles so I can move forward with some things I really want to do. I’ll sign off with one last picture, this one of my Diamond Tiles Table Runner made in a gorgeous pumpkin print from Timeless Treasures. I sorted through my fall decorations to find a pumpkin to display on it and I have a lot of pumpkins….I may do a post when I pull them out next month….or maybe I don’t want to share just how many I have….I’ll have to think on that.

Thank you for stopping by. May you hear His still small voice today.
Blessings, Michelle
