I am ready for summer weather, how about you? This winter has seemed to drag on for me although I’m not sure why. The weather hasn’t been that bad….maybe my tolerance for the cold is declining.
I try to make good use of my time when I am forced to be inside either because of the weather or a nasty virus plaguing our world.
My trip to the garden center the other day was a success in that I found strawberry plants! I have a small raised bed waiting to be prepared and planted with strawberries. I have visions of my little grandson and I making treks out to the strawberry patch next summer (he will be too tiny for walking this summer) and eating fresh strawberries together! How fun will that be? Grandpa plants things like broccoli and brussel sprouts so I think grandma will be the favorite 😉
This is the second in my series of Seasonal Bellpulls. I took the pictures on a very antique and not at all secure door on the back of my house. It leads to a tiny lean-to. I have no idea how old this portion of my house is but it has original post and beam construction and hand hewn nails. Since I love things with history I think it is very cool.
I had a specific place in my entry in mind as I designed these bellpulls. There is a tiny wall space next to the interior door that leads to the lean to. In my opinion it needed something hanging there all the time so these designs came to be.
When I was choosing the images for each bell pull I wanted to draw only “natural” objects. I didn’t want flip-flops for summer to hot cocoa for winter even though both would have been fun. It honestly took a while for me to come up with the three designs for summer. My ideas always leaned toward spring or autumn but I am pleased with what I finally came up with. I had a great time coloring this dragonfly. Since I have a large selection of Prismacolor pencils I just kept pulling different colors. I did pick the bare minimum for the pattern though. I didn’t want to overwhelm anyone with the actual number of colors I chose. When I start coloring I just kind of get lost as it is very soothing to me.
I think these little mushrooms are very fun. Last summer I had some HUGE yellow and orange mushrooms growing in the yard on the north side of my house. I like to think they are where fairies like to play *wink* so I have been known to mow around them….truly. Besides, they are so pretty I just can’t bring myself to destroy them.
I am ready for summer. I am ready for flip-flops and bare toes. I am ready to open my windows and listen to spring peepers. In the meantime I will work diligently on my new designs to share with you. This pattern is available here in my shop. I hope you find something to keep your hands busy and bless your heart.
