Somehow I am at a loss for words today. Anything I could say about America pales in comparison to the lives lost defending our country in our history, including the man who gave life to my husband and would have been my father-in-law. What could I possibly say to honor those who selflessly give of themselves everyday?

Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Your sacrifice means the world to me.
Handwork is near and dear to my heart as you may know. My version of our beloved flag is made with small yo-yos hand-sewn together. I used as many scraps as I could and love how it turned out.

I used over-dyed floss to stitch the letters. I prefer more of an Americana look rather than straight up red, white and blue. The background muslin has a tea-dyed look which gives it a vintage feel.

I used an over-dyed wool for the star and embellished it with a button from my favorite button jar….I do have a favorite. I try to be fair and look through the other jars first but this button came from my favorite jar….I should just start with that jar every time…..
I am very very thankful to live in a land where we are free to gather and worship and I am looking forward to seeing my brothers and sisters in Christ soon. While the words to God Bless America have been ringing through my head endlessly since completing this piece a verse has been hot on it’s heels.
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from the wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
2 CHRONICLES 7:14
We DO need His healing touch, not only physically but spiritually and socially. It is my prayer that others will join me on my knees as I continue to pray for this land that I love.
Sitting quietly with my handwork gives me plenty of time to pray. I keep a list beside me and focus on the Lord while my fingers are busy. This pattern is available in my shop here. I hope you find time to do something you love today and don’t forget the One who makes all this possible.
Blessings to you today,
Michelle
