What does it mean to be transformed? The dictionary tells us it means “a thorough or dramatic change in form or appearance”. I think that describes the block in this little quilt pretty well. It’s not a HUGE transformation but it is rather impressive.

The blocks in this quilt start out as simple 9-patches but a couple of quick cuts and rotation of the pieces results in a very different look. I started with two batiks from my stash that I LOVE and I am so happy with how this piece turned out.

I added a candle wrap to this pattern to make a sweet little duo. The verse is from Romans 12:2 and is a continual prayer of my heart.
Be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.
Romans 12:2

I thought a butterfly was a good depiction of a transformation. From a tiny caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly…that is the transformation I hope is happening in my life. It is my heart’s desire that my life would reflect the beauty of the Lord and draw other’s unto Himself.

There are times in my life that feel like winter; dark, cold, grey. Sometimes they seem to stretch on forever, but I know, even when I don’t feel it, I know spring is coming. Spring. I feel like I take a mental and spiritual deep breath when spring finally blooms again in my heart. It’s not that God has left me but rather it is a time of growing and renewing in my life.
There are things the Lord is working out in me and I need to be patient to let Him work. I know I need to remain faithful in the Word and in prayer while He is transforming me. I know any transformation that happens is because of Him and not me. I can do nothing in and of myself but rather it is His Spirit working in me to mold me into His image. That is the desire of my heart. To be more like Him and less like me. I want a total transformation so I look nothing like my former self. I want to bloom like the beautiful azaleas in my yard after a long, cold winter.

While I was taking pictures, my chickens, who are ever curious about what I am doing, wandered over to see if I had any treats for them. I did not have any treats right then but I know they found some tasty bugs in the flower bed which is even better if you are a chicken I think!
The pattern for the quilt and embroidered candle wrap can be found here in my shop. They make up very quickly and would be a sweet gift I think.
I hope spring is blooming in your heart even if you are heading into winter where you live! May you be blessed beyond measure today as you savor the goodness of the Lord.
Blessings,
Michelle
