Hi, friends! I’m back again with the next two blocks in my SAL, Thy Word. Have you been following along? Have you picked your materials and started stitching? If so, I hope you have been mindful of the scriptures we have done so far and the impact they can have on your life.
Thy word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.
Psalm 119:11
Do you have scripture memorized? I hope you do as it is God’s word speaking to our hearts. Just as the words of a parent, teacher or coach may come to mind when we least expect it or doing certain circumstances, so too can God’s word come to mind right when we need it. It can bring comfort, peace, correction and direction but only if we have hidden it in our hearts first.
The scripture for this week is from Psalm 138:1.

I will praise Him with my whole heart, at all times. When the storms of life blow through, I WILL choose to praise Him. When things are uncertain around me, I WILL choose to praise Him. When finances, health or relationships take a turn I wasn’t expecting and they scare me, I WILL choose to praise Him. I will, and do, choose to praise Him because I believe His word that He loves me, that HE has a plan and a purpose for my life and if I believe that then I also have to believe that He allows certain things in my life for a purpose. Moaning and groaning and complaining because I don’t like what is going on around me is NOT acceptable. There are so many things in life that I can NOT control, but I CAN control the attitude of my heart and my response to my circumstances. I’m not saying it is always easy, nor am I saying I always have my heart in the right place, but I am growing. He is working on my heart.

While I do ALWAYS have some sort of handwork when I watch tv (baseball…when I watch baseball….I watch very little of anything else) sometimes I like to stitch when it is quiet around me. The gentle rhythm of needle and thread quiets my heart and allows all the unnecessary “noise” to drift away leaving me alone with my Lord to hear what He has to say to me. I am of a personality that I am always doing something. I do not just sit. Ever. So sometimes it can be difficult for the Lord to get my attention. Turning off all electronic devices and picking up some handwork brings me a peace and contentment that I find in little else. It allows me to refocus and possibly change direction. I can be so goal oriented that sometimes the Lord has to put a roadblock in front of me to get my attention. I hit fewer potholes if Jesus is my navigator.
I have one block prepared for next week and this afternoon I will be working on the second block while I spend time with Jesus. If you hop over to my shop you can grab the block for this week and spend some time with Jesus as well!
Have a blessed week in Jesus!
Michelle
