Have you been stitching along or is this your first time here? If you haven’t been here before, welcome! I’m so glad you are here! For the last few weeks I have been sharing some small embroidery blocks that I have designed for a scripture quilt. The blocks are free from my shop for a week. After that they are only $5 for both blocks. You can check this post for the complete materials list if you decide you want to make the whole quilt. The quilt is in progress so I don’t have a finished picture yet, but the blog post lists all fabrics you will need to complete the quilt. The quilt will be a good size for a wall hanging as it will finish at 64″ x 64″.
For the verse this week I chose Psalm 84:11

Are you familiar with this verse? The whole verse goes like this:
The Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.
Psalm 84:11
God is so good. He is a sun and shield meaning He gives light (and heat) even as He protects His children. He gives grace (the free and unmerited favor of God) and glory (honor). For those that choose to walk with Him, He doesn’t withhold anything good. That doesn’t mean He is some genie in a bottle waiting to dispense what we ask for. It doesn’t mean we will only have good things happen to us. What it does mean is that He will bless us (His children) with the good things needful for this life if we choose to follow hard after Him. This doesn’t have anything to do with earning His favor, Ephesians 2:8 tells us that.
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Ephesians 2:8
Our salvation is a free gift from God. We can’t earn His favor. He loves us already, no matter where we are at. In fact the Word says He sent His Son to die for us while we were yet sinners (Romans 5:6-11). So, we can’t earn salvation, but we can choose to reject it by simply not accepting it. Someone can buy you a gift, wrap it up beautifully and present it to you but it isn’t yours until you accept it. The gift of salvation is available to all (2 Peter 3:9) but we have to accept that gift.
Walking uprightly, then, is choosing to walk with Him, to follow hard after Him. When we choose to be in His word and to spend time in prayer, we become more like Him. When we walk uprightly He blesses us with all the good things we need in this life.

Grace. His unmerited favor. He loves us and desires to bless us no matter how many times we mess up. How awesome is our God? I am so thankful for His unfailing love toward me. I am thankful for His patience and kindness. I am thankful for His word which reveals His character to me.
I hope you are choosing to stitch-a-long with me and that the verses are a blessing to your heart.
Be sure to pop by my shop to pick up the patterns for these blocks. They will be free for one week only then they will be available for $5 for the two blocks. More information will be coming soon regarding the sashing and borders for this quilt so come back each Sunday!
