Patriotic designs have always been close to my heart and I never lack for inspiration for a classic red, white and blue pattern. We all have certain things we are drawn to and I am no different. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever run out of ideas….so far there is no end in sight! Thankfully!

Prairie points (just a few) are a fun accent on this small wall hanging. It finishes at 10″ x 14″ so it fits easily in so many places.
I think it’s so important to stay busy. “Idle hands are the devil’s workshop.” Did anyone ever say that to you when you were a child? No one ever did for me, honestly, because my hands were ALWAYS busy. My grandmother taught my to crochet when I was four. I remember making countless potholders with that little loom and the colorful stretchy bands. I did puzzles and needlepoint, cross-stitch and word finds. Always, always busy. Today is no different. Worry and fear can set in when we are idle and who wants that? When I start to fret about something I purposely make myself do something, even if its laundry or the dishes. Everyday activities bring peace and calm to my heart.

There are so many adult coloring books available today. I’ve never purchased one but I do have a large set of Prismacolor pencils. I really have no idea why coloring is so soothing but it is.
I am always drawn to scrap quilts so I head to the Fat Quarters as soon as I enter a quilt shop. I make very few large quilts so FQs are perfect for me. I get to enjoy a large variety of fabrics and I love that. I have them arranged by color in boxes on the shelf in my studio so finding the right color is quick and easy.

All the fabrics for this piece came from my stash as did the floss, buttons and metallic thread. All I had to order was the hanger (I will edit the pictures when the beautiful metal hanger from Ackfeld comes in. I can’t wait!).
I’m looking forward to designing the rest of the months in this series. “May” has been sketched and I will pull the fabrics soon. (I know, it’s out of order but when inspiration strikes I have to run with it!) July is available here in my shop.
The joy of the Lord is your strength.
Nehemiah 8:10
May the joy of the Lord be YOUR strength today. Keep your gaze on our loving, heavenly Father and not the circumstances around you. Easier said than done sometimes, I know, but not impossible. Make a concentrated effort to dwell on HIM and His promises to His children. I am praying that you feel His loving arms around you in your darkest moments. He loves you more than you can ever truly comprehend. Rest in His loving arms today.
Blessings to you,
Michelle
