The hot weather finally broke two days ago and I am so thankful! My grandson and I spent a lot of time in the living room with the air conditioner and fan when he was here. I am so thankful to have him two days a week while my daughter works. He is learning new things everyday and I love the snuggle time during his naps!
Admittedly, the hours spent loving on that little man cut into my sewing time but they grow so fast and I love making memories with him. How in the world did I become a grandma?? Wasn’t it just yesterday I was raising my four babies and home schooling them? Now I am almost the shortest in my family (my one daughter is my height so we share the “shortest” title).

I do make time to sew or stitch everyday. I colored and stitched this design last fall but got “stuck” on the finishing. I mean I really struggled with what I wanted to do with it. I have learned that it is best to let my brain work on the problem rather than trying to push ahead. Inevitably, if I push through to just get something done I end up with my seam ripper in my hand.

I have combined colored pencils and embroidery again for this autumn inspired design. I chose a subtle houndstooth for the background fabric and I love the texture it lends to the design.

I have been known to decorate our large yard with dozens of pumpkins in the fall and there is no lack of pumpkins inside either, although the inside ones are of the fabric and porcelain variety.

The pattern is available here in my shop. It’s a very fun design and makes a great accent pillow on a couch or bench. I’ll probably add it to the “Happy Fall Y’All” pillow I shared a couple weeks ago.
I have to admit, the cooler temperatures the last couple of days have given me more energy. There’s something about the constant heat and 100% humidity that takes my energy and motivation and throws it out the window! It’s not that I don’t get much done, it’s just that I have to talk myself into doing the things I love. There’s another heat wave coming next week but I plan to get some hand work ready so I am better prepared.
Wherever you are, I hope the weather is kind to you this week. I pray you take time to enjoy the little things because sometimes they are the most important things.
Blessings to you,
Michelle
