In the midst of chaos, turmoil and fear we all need a safe place to land. Many of us have put a self-quarantine in place in these scary times and what better place to land than home? I have always worked hard to make my home a comforting and stress-free place for my husband and children. I admit there are times it is anything but stress-free but when things get stirred up I try to restore order very quickly. My husband and I make choices to keep as much stress away from our home as possible. I admit there are many stresses you can’t get away from but there are many you can choose not to bring into your home. Angry words, bad attitudes and selfish behaviors are things we have never let get a foothold in our home. I have always believed our family should love and support each other no matter what is going on in our lives or the world. I am blessed when I find out my children have reached out to each other for help in some way even if it is just to talk something through. In my opinion that is what family is for.
There is always a rabbit trail or train, if you will, to the names of my pieces and my ramblings that seem to have nothing to do with my newest pattern. The name of my newest pattern is Sweet Jane.

This little candle mat or mug rug has such a sweet look to it. I have always been drawn to small things with gentle curves and the petals on this Dresden plate are right up my alley. It reminds me of a round, happy face; a face full of smiles and pink cheeks. It reminds me of my girls when they were little with big cheeks and pigtails. It reminds me of a friend’s mom who always, always had a smile on her face and had the sweetest disposition you could ever imagine. Her name was Jane. She went home to be with the Lord about a year ago but her legacy lives on in the lives of her children and grandchildren. It is my prayer that my family remains as close as hers even after I have crossed over to the other side someday.
That was my rabbit trail. That is how the name for this piece came to be. There is always a reason even if it isn’t obvious. I could have named it Pink and Green Candle Mat but where’s the fun in that?

I do love to create with my hands and I love having a home that feels comfortable and welcoming. Little touches like this make a house warm and inviting. This pattern is available here in my shop.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a blessed day!
