I remember the first time I saw an eagle in the wild, soaring over our house. There was something so serene and majestic about that beautiful bird. I stood and watched until he or she was out of sight.
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31
They shall mount up with wings like eagles. As I watched that beautiful creature he did not flap his wings the entire time. Not once. I watched him for a good ten minutes and he soared and swooped the entire time, catching air currents and letting them carry him. I think that’s how we should be, allowing the Lord to be our strength, letting Him carry us.
Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.’
Isaiah 12:2
In hard times, in trying times, my strength comes from Him and Him alone. It has been a journey, but trusting Him completely gets easier the longer I walk with Him. He is the God of the universe. He calls us His children, His beloved. He doesn’t abandon us. He was with Daniel in the lion’s den. He was with Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego in the fiery furnace. He parted the Red Sea and led the children of Israel to safety. We may not see His physical presence but we can trust His word. He has never let me down and I know He never will.
There’s a grace when the heart is under fire
Another way when the walls are closing in
And when I look at the space between
Where I used to be and this reckoning
I know I will never be alone
Hillsong United – another in the fire
It may feel like the walls are closing in. It may feel hopeless, but it’s not.
There was another in the fire
Standing next to me
There was another in the waters
Holding back the seas
And should I ever need reminding
Of how I’ve been set free
There is a cross that bears the burden
Where another died for me
Hillsong United – Another in the fire
Daily I choose to keep my eyes on Him. Looking at what is going on around me can be scary. The disciples were terrified in the storm, but Jesus wasn’t. He was asleep. He knew they were not going to perish, that they would arrive safely on the other side; but because He loved them so much He calmed the storm when they awoke Him. He doesn’t calm every storm but we can know He is always with us.
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus’ name
Christ alone; cornerstone
Weak made strong in the Savior’s love
Through the storm, He is Lord
Lord of all
Hillsong – Cornerstone
A cornerstone was the first stone put in place when a new building was going up. It had to be true and perfect. The entire structure depended on it being exact. Jesus is my Cornerstone. He is my Rock. He is with me through every storm.
When Darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
HILLSONG – CORNERSTONE
Be strong, beloved. He has been, and will continue to be, with us in this storm. Take courage!
Until next time, blessings to you!
