Picnics, parades, fireworks, lightning bugs and flower gardens. Those are just some of the things that say “summer” to me.

We are in the midst of some dog days of summer right now, the perfect time to sit with some iced tea and hand work. This piece is quick to work up and frame, just in time for the Fourth of July. Colored pencils really transform a piece and are so relaxing to work with.

I take pictures of my pieces outside to get the best lighting and was reminded again how much I love these flowers. Commonly called Coral Bells they come in dozens of colors. The hummingbirds love the flowers but they are really appreciated for their foliage.

I finally filled the small bed along my small barn with all varieties of Coral Bells. This one has the most flowers this year. They are the dandiest, loveliest, little, pink flowers.

My garden did indeed distract me for a while. I pulled a few weeds and admired the flowers. Finally I got back to work snapping a few pictures. I used a store bought frame to finish my embroidery. I specifically sized it for an 8″x10″ frame to make finishing quick and relatively inexpensive. While I did buy my frame brand new, second hand stores are great sources for frames that just need a bit of cleaning or a fresh coat of paint.

Once the coloring is done you can easily take your work to a comfy chair in the shade and stitch away! I am blessed to be able to take some time each day to do what I love.
This new pattern is available in my shop. You can find it here.
Many blessings to you today,
Michelle
