I had a hard time coming up with a name for my new pattern. It’s the first quilt pattern I am introducing and I had a REALLY hard time giving it a name. The Bible says we should pray without ceasing and it also says we should pray about EVERYTHING. I know that but sometimes I forget. I get so busy and sometimes I forget to be still. My blog, my website and my patterns are not about me or my designs because at the end of the day none of that matters. More and more the Lord is showing me it is ALL about Him and I am glad for that. He is the God of the universe and He deserves ALL the glory. Any ability I have comes from Him and I need to remember that. So, if He has a name for my pattern and I haven’t figured it out it’s because I have failed to listen to what He is trying to say.
Greater Love. When I finally slowed down to ask Him and listen, that is the name He gave me for this pattern and I like it. The first thing it makes me think of is a wonderful verse.
“Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
John 15:13
That verse makes me think first of my Savior who laid down His life for me. His death, burial and resurrection paved a way to eternal life for all who believe. Those words have also caused me to pause and think of the countless men and women who have either already laid down their lives for others or who are willing to do so in their day to day lives. Soldiers. Police officers. Firefighters. It’s so easy to get caught up in my life that I forget those who put themselves in harms way for me so that I can live the life I live. I want to be more mindful to pray for them and to thank them when given the opportunity.

There is nothing in my quilt that would tell you my thought process in creating it or naming it. When you have a creative side and are led by the Spirit I think that is often the way. There’s a train but it isn’t always apparent to the casual observer. It is my desire to allow you a glimpse into my heart and my life; to share with you how much I love creating and hopefully inspire you to give one of my patterns a try.
This isn’t a large quilt. It finishes at 34.5″ square so it makes a sweet table topper or wall hanging. The pattern, which is available here, has detailed piecing and pressing instructions to guide you in making your own special love quilt.
Thanks for taking a look! Have a blessed day!
