More and more I find I am drawn to simple things. Ok, maybe some of my designs are very detailed and take a fair amount of time but what I’m really thinking of is the simple pleasure of creating with my hands. I have a schedule and a plan for my designs that I want to introduce to you because I work better that way. I need a focus, a destination, if you will. Without one I tend to wander around and not complete anything.
Having a timeline and a daily to-do list isn’t stressful for me, it actually simplifies my life. It helps me stay on track and not get flustered because I forgot something important like starting dinner for my family or finishing laundry before I go to bed. Yes, those things are important to me. The men in my home work hard. They don’t complain (much) about working in the cold (or heat). They take care of me (and also each other) and I love to take care of them.

My family is almost all grown up…admittedly my boys would say they are completely grown up but I like to think they still need their mama at times. Now that I am needed less in a hands-on way (my ears are usually what is needed by any of them) I have time to pursue this crazy dream of mine; this dream of sharing with anyone who cares to look the piles of patterns both physical and mental I have created over the years.

I worked on this pattern in my head for several months until I discovered some rulers by Creative Grids. I wanted a way to accurately make the wedges for my Dresden Plate without using paper templates. The 15 degree ruler made cutting my wedges super easy!

Choosing fabrics for this pattern is addicting! This is the seventh Persuasion table mat I have made. There are pictures in the shop of my other variations.
Persuasion. Where did the name come from? Dear Jane Austen and her novel of the same name. The elegance. The simplicity. The romance. I encourage you to read her lovely novel if you haven’t already. Be carried away to a time when life wasn’t so hurried (not that it was easier but it was slower) and enjoy a sweet romance. You won’t be disappointed!
Find my pattern here along with some other patterns that may persuade you to slow down and enjoy a bit of handwork for a while.
As always, thanks for stopping by. I hope you were encouraged or inspired in some way.
Blessings –
Michelle
