Fall is in the air as I write this post. Leaves are starting to change color and pumpkins are starting to appear at road-side stands. There is something very comforting and cozy about this time of year. I love all seasons and enjoy the activities both inside and out that accompany them but fall is when my heart feels most content. Maybe that’s why designing anything with pumpkins or collecting fall dishes are my weakness….or strength? Let’s go with strength. I tell my children “you have to be who God created you to be.” I have no doubt He gave me a love for this time of year for a reason and I will just do what He created me to do.

These fun pumpkins were created with curvy log cabin blocks and simple appliqué for the stems. Curved quilting lines (easily done with the walking foot on my domestic machine) define the pumpkin shape and leave no doubt as to what they are.
The finished quilt is only 26″ square so it fits nicely in so many places. While I love to put a small quilt in the middle of my kitchen table that currently isn’t an option. Our daughter moved back home with her two cats and when I have a quilt on the table they like to sleep on it. Totally gross and not acceptable in my house! That being said, this sweet quilt also looks cute in my large metal basket or on the back of my grandfather’s rocking chair from when he was a little boy.
This weekend I will stop at one of those road-side stands and buy some pumpkins. My favorites are the ones that are all bumpy and still green. I can’t wait to fill the nooks and crannies in my yard with baskets, mums and pumpkins!
I hope you have a wonderful day! The pattern for Pumpkin Patch is available here in my shop. Wouldn’t it make a sweet hostess gift for Thanksgiving…..?
Blessings to you,
Michelle
