It’s about that time of year and the weather man says we might get snow tonight and tomorrow. I’m ok with that but there are still so many leaves in my yard. Leaves, twigs, branches and nut shells. Now that all my half-grown chicks are moved to the freshly cleaned coop I can turn my attention to the yard. It will take many days of raking but I don’t mind. There is something very soothing about working in my yard. I love the fresh air and exercise and I love the finished product of a neatly manicured yard. It is not perfect by any means. The gardens weren’t planned by a professional and the primitive finds tucked here and there bring a bit of whimsy and that’s just how I love it. A bit wild, a bit tamed and maybe a place for fairies to play in the ferns 😉

Round About Winter is available here in my shop. It uses wool for the front and a homespun for the back and binding.

I love working with wool. There are so many beautiful woven and over-dyed patterns available. I think this red and black paid is perfect for the barns!

There’s just something about old trucks….I would love to own one someday. I can see me toodling around the back roads stopping at farm stands or barn sales to bring home treasures.

I am extremely fond of the over-dyed green I used for the trees. The over-dyed wools add so much depth and visual texture. I love to add a few new ones to my stash when I have the opportunity!
I think working with wool is very relaxing. It is perfect handwork in the evenings when my eyes are a bit tired and I’m ready for a break from more precise machine piecing.

I have a large round coffee table where I am displaying these seasonal designs. They would also look great on a dining room or kitchen table. Wouldn’t they also look great draped over the back of a couch? Just a thought….
Thanks for coming by today. Hop over to my shop and choose the perfect handwork for the coming days when staying home may be because of snow and not other reasons.
Many blessings to you!
Michelle
