These words never fail to bring back sweet memories for me. These words are as familiar to me as any others I have ever heard or spoken. While I can’t remember his voice I know those words were spoken to me by my beloved grandfather when I was very young. Growing up I had several things that had those words printed on them. My dear aunt bought me a music box when I was a young adult that played that song.
I didn’t set out to create a piece that would move me forward in my desire to design my own patterns but that is exactly what happened. The gentle rhythm of needle and thread quiets my spirit while the beauty of my colored pencils brings joy to my heart. I find peace in the simple process of hand work and it is my desire that you find that as well.
In this, the first pattern in my shop, I give you detailed instructions to create your own beautiful sunflower. You can find my pattern here. I use Premier Prismacolor pencils for all shading as I love the extensive selection of colors available. They are very easy to work with and give beautiful results.
I use DMC floss for the stitching which includes stem stitches and backstitches. I designed this piece to fit in a standard 8″x10″ frame.
I have so many designs to share with you and they will be added to my shop as I complete them. Right now my patterns are available as hard copies that will be mailed to you, but in the near future I will be offering them as instant downloads. Learning everything for the digital aspect of my business is taking a while and sometimes my brain needs a break so I sit and stitch as that is as familiar to me as the words that inspired this piece!
